PANJIM: Chief Minister Pramod Sawant said that he has instructed Town and Country Planning (TCP) Minister Vishwajit Rane to revoke any permissions granted to the project if they are not in accordance with the law.

“If permissions such as conversions, approval, Environment Clearance are not proper, we will revoke the permissions. We don’t mind if the project closes down. We won’t allow projects which will cause hardships to the people,” Sawant said.

The CM said, “We are committed to upholding the law and prioritising public interest. Our government will not approve any project that goes against the wishes of our citizens.”

The Chief Minister was reacting to questions by mediapersons regarding the controversy surrounding the Bhutani project at Sancoale for the last few days. “Practically, mega project or small project, files do not come to the Chief Minister,” Sawant said.

To ensure transparency and accountability, he suggested that mega projects that are inter departmentally dependent for approvals should be cleared through the CM as the Chairman of the Steering Committee of TCP, to avoid future issues.

“Such projects are interdepartmental in nature and would need permissions from other departments for sewerage, water supply etc in the future. So taking all departments on board is important,” CM Sawant said

But looking at the video going viral, it appears that this use was going on since 2007.

Sawant said that he has instructed TCP Minister Vishwajit Rane to close down the project if there are any illegalities.
