Goa Police on Wednesday detained a woman from Haryana and her partner from Maharashtra in connection with the alleged abetment to suicide of the woman’s husband in Rohtak, Haryana, last week. The accused were later handed over to the Haryana police for further investigation.
Divya Magan Suhag, 27, a resident of Rohtak, and Deepak Sonawane, 36, from Sambhajinagar (formerly Aurangabad), Maharashtra, were located and detained in Anjuna by the local police following a tip-off.
According to North Goa Superintendent of Police Rahul Gupta, the detention was made based on information received from the station house officer of Bahuakbarpur police station in Rohtak, who suspected the duo had fled to the Anjuna area after the incident.
"Local intelligence played a crucial role in tracking down the suspects. The detection staff at Anjuna police station traced Suhag and Sonawane and handed them over to Bahuakbarpur police personnel, who arrived in Anjuna on Wednesday evening," SP Gupta said.
The case, registered under abetment to suicide charges, is being probed by Haryana police, as authorities work to uncover more details behind the alleged mental harassment that led to the husband’s tragic death.
