Water Resources Department (WRD) Minister Shubash Shirodkar on Wednesday stressed the importance of water conservation and tree plantation during a student interaction program held at Pernem Government Higher Secondary School and NAV School.

Addressing the students, the minister said, “Water conservation is vital to life. If we fail to save trees and water today, we risk losing our future. Every student should plant at least one tree because trees are essential to our survival.”

Minister Shirodkar also shared his vision of building 100 dams in Goa to ensure long-term water security. He urged students to take initiative in making Pernem greener, starting today by adopting water-saving habits and understanding the importance of environmental protection.

On this occasion, Pernem MLA Pravin Arlekar assured students that efforts are underway to provide a permanent solution to the water problems in Pernem Taluka. “Since taking charge, I have been working towards resolving the water crisis in our region,” he said.

The program concluded with Minister Shirodkar encouraging students to lead the way in building a sustainable and eco-friendly future through awareness, action, and responsibility.
