MARGAO: As part of the proposed repair and beautification project, the Water Resources Department (WRD) will conduct a survey of River Sal at Khareband and Tolleaband.The process aims to assess the river’s current state and plan for necessary enhancements.
On Wednesday, Margao MLA Digambar Kamat, along with Benaulim MLA Venzy Viegas and WRD officials inspected the River Sal.The inspection focussed at assessing the sites for restoration, beautification, and improved accessibility for the community.
Speaking to mediapersons, Kamat indicated that the project is still in the initial stage, with instructions given to WRD officials to conduct a survey and prepare an estimate for the proposed repair and beautification work.
Emphasising that the river edges at Khareband require urgent repair, he highlighted the need to construct retaining walls to ensure stability and added that further decisions on the project will be taken once the survey is completed. He said that this proactive approach will help address any erosion related issues and enhance the river’s overall condition.
