“Yesterday a truck, today a bus—what’s next?”: Goa Congress blasts BJP govt as roads collapse from reckless digging

Published on

General Secretary of the Goa Pradesh Congress Committee, Amarnath Panjikar, has sharply criticized the Goa government following recent incidents in which both a truck and a bus caved in due to reckless digging for underground cabling. He points out that such accidents highlight a serious neglect of public safety and questions whether this represents the kind of “Viksit Bharat” (Developed India) being promised under the BJP-led administration in Goa. According to Panjikar, roads are being left unrepaired after utility work, creating hazardous conditions for commuters.

He further alleges that the government is ignoring basic infrastructure maintenance, with repeated road cave-ins serving as evidence of poor planning and a lack of accountability. Panjikar expressed his frustration, stating, “Yesterday a truck, today a bus. What’s next? Vehicles are caving in due to reckless digging for underground cabling. This is Viksit Bharat under the BJP4Goa Govt? Roads are left unrepaired, public safety ignored. Is the delay due to pending commission deals?”

This is not the first time the issue has gained attention, with similar criticisms being raised in the past as well.
