PANJIM: The Anjuna Police arrested Archit Sangelkar, 21, from Park Hill Appts, PDA Colony Porvorim, a driver of a Mercedes bearing no registration number GA 07 Q 0990, which was allegedly involved in a hit-and-run accident case at Siolim on Tuesday.
Police stated that the accused drove his car in a rash and negligent manner and knocked down one Judith Fernandes near the Sao Joao Chapel who was proceeding from Gudem to Fernandes Vaddo.
It is learnt that Judith who had gone an evening walk was seriously injured after being hit by the car and had to be admitted to a private hospital as condition was critical. The alleged accused fled from the accident without intimating to the police nor referring her for medical treatment.
An FIR has been registered against Sangelkar under section 281,125 (b) of BNS and section 134 (a) & (b) of MV Actband the case is being investigated by Head Constable Krishna Asvekar under the supervision of PI Suraj Gawas. The vehicle has been attached under panchanama.
