In a late-night narcotics raid, Bicholim Police arrested a 26-year-old man, Prajal Gaonkar, for possession of suspected ganja near the railway tracks at Shirgao. Acting on specific intelligence, the operation was carried out between 10:55 PM on July 15 and 1:10 AM on July 16, 2025.
During the raid, police recovered 208 grams of a green leafy substance suspected to be ganja, valued at ₹20,800. Along with the contraband, a Yamaha Aerox scooter (registration number GA-04-R-9755) and a mobile phone (make HMD) were also seized under panchanama procedures.
The raid was executed by a police team led by PSI Amarnath Palni, under the supervision of PI Vijay V. Rane and SDPO Wilson D’Souza, with overall guidance from SP North, Rahul Gupta, IPS.
A case has been registered under Crime No. 96/2025 at Bicholim Police Station under Section 20(b)(ii)(A) of the NDPS Act. Further investigation is being conducted by PSI Rashmir Parab Matonkar.
