
PANJIM: In a shocking disclosure of the desperate measures adopted by Goan youth to get jobs abroad, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant said that an amount of Rs 100 crore is lost in a year in jobs frauds. He said his department is monitoring job frauds on a case to case basis.
“Many have got fooled by agents. Rs 100 crores are lost in job frauds in a year,” Sawant said. He called on Goans not to get fooled and not to fall prey to such job frauds. He was briefing the media after the Cabinet Meeting on Wednesday.
The Goa Cabinet on Wednesday approved the creation of a separate Department of Drinking water (DDW). It will be separate from the PWD which will now take charge only of roads and buildings. The Sewerage Corporation will handle laying and maintenance of sewerage. The budget too will be separate. Engineers and officers can opt to join any of these department, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant told media after the Cabinet meeting on Wednesday.
The Cabinet also decided to ban ferocious dog breeds and named Rottweiler and Pit bull among the banned dog breeds by amending the Goa Animal Breeding and Domestic Regulation Ordinance 2024. So what happens to those who already have these dog breeds. They will have to register and take responsibility for these dogs, but no new dogs of this breed can be procured, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant declared.
All benefits of various schemes will be given to all freedom fighters who have not received the benefits. There are 70 to 80 of them who are yet to receive the benefits. The Freedom Fighters’ Scheme has been amended to include this provision, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant informed. Commenting on the reason why children of all freedom fighters had not got jobs till date, Sawant said that some had applied for two or three posts, that’s why the list is pending till now.
