Govt finalises rates for land conversions; Upto 500 mts no fees

PANJIM: After almost two months of passing the amendment to the Goa Town Planning Act, the government has finalised the rates to be levied for land conversions.
TCP Minister Vijai Sardesai, speaking to reporters said that the gazette notification on fees would be out any moment.
“Earlier individuals would charge the people and government would get nothing but now we have finalised the rates as per the amendment to the TCP Act and the gazette notification is expected today,” he said.
Giving details, Sardesai said there would be no fees for converting land measuring 0-500 from orchard to settlement.
“From 500 sq mt to 1000 sq mt the rate would be Rs 50 per sq mt, from 1,000 sq mt to 2,000 sq mt it will be Rs 75 per sq mt, from 2,000 sq mt to 5,000 sq mt it would be Rs 100 per sq mt, from 5,000 sq mt to 10,000 sq mt it would be Rs 125 per sq mt, from 10,000 sq mt to 20,000 sq mt it would be Rs 150 per sq mt and for 20,000 sq mt plus it would be Rs 200 per sq metre,” he said.
Besides, he said, there would be one time processing fee of Rs 5,000 and above based on the total area.
Sardesai further revealed that while the rates for settlement to industrial would be on higher side, rates for settlement to institution would be less.
