Have the Panjim roads been completed, as promised by the Government?

PANJIM: Goan roads are in bad shape, with the rise in potholes and digging due to underground works. Due to the substandard materials used for patch work, the roads wither in no time. Despite the promise made by the CM to complete the roads within 15 days, the people of Goa have to suffer painstaking rides. In this edition of Street Voices, Herald TV spoke to people asking whether the designated Panjim roads have been completed as per the promise made by the government.

The proof is in eating the pudding. We have seen the roads of Panjim, why even all over Goa, the roads are bad. There is no other solution but to sack the government. And the people have to sack the government. Unfortunately, the Opposition is also in bad shape and that is where the problem lies. The government is taking advantage and therefore we have fallen in trouble. Now we are seniors, we cannot indulge in activism. But we have to come together and put pressure on the government.
Armando Gonsalves, Resident of Panjim
The Smart City officials had told in the Court that they would repair the roads in 15 days, but this did not happen. Goa government had promised to do the roads before Ganesh Chaturthi. They did not deliver on that promise too. Now the joke is even newly roads are spoilt and those roads that were repaired, it is not possible to commute on them. I call on the CM to nab these contractors and throw them in jail, otherwise they will not improve.

Over the last 40 years I have seen, the older roads were narrow but even. Water used not flood the roads. Now huge roads are constructed by all are up and down. If you drive a little fast, you will lose control and fall down and get involved in an accident. In a viral video, a contractor has confessed how commissions are extracted from them from top to bottom. At this rate how do you expect the roads to be good?

They had assured to complete all the Smart City roads repairs within 15 days. But before reaching the Smart City, at Bambolim flyover I encountered about 1 metre potholes. If one falls in these potholes and brakes one’s backbone, one will directly reach GMC. There is no question of even entering the Smart City. The roads near the Azad Maidan, below the KTC bus stand flyover, are very bad. Who is the smart person behind all this?
