PANJIM: There is lot of anger among the people regarding the alarming condition of roads all over Goa. People are agitated that also a number of accidents have taken place and many people have either injured their limbs and have landed in hospital or have even lost their lives. There is utter frustration among the people over deadline after deadline which has been given by the government and not kept.
The last deadline was that roads would be repaired before the auspicious festival of Ganesh Chaturthi, so that at least the Lord can be brought home or immersed safely without any incidents.
When asked for his reactions on the poor condition of roads all over Goa and to comment on whether engineers are responsible as chief minister has said, former PWD Minister Nilesh Cabral said, 'ask the CM'. When told he was once PWD Minister he said, ‘at one time I was so many things’. He however said when he was incharge, he did road with durability with the same contractors.
"Now whether engineers are responsible I can’t say. When I was there, accountability was there. Now also accountability is there. CM made a nice statement that engineers and contractors are accountability, you ask the CM,” former PWD Minister Nilesh Cabral said.
