PANJIM/MARGAO: The Aam Admi Party has said that “If Congress continue the way they do and do not have an all-party alliance they will be wiped out. They may not even get single digit.”
Benaulim MLA Venzy Viegas told Herald TV in an exclusive chat, “We must all unite and get few seats rather than getting single digit. Delhi is another story, but people want to see alliance unity in Goa.”
Surprisingly, Viegas emphasized the need for an alliance, in Goa, when AAP National Convenor Arvind Keriwal had unilaterally ditched the alliance in the Delhi polls.
Congress Vice President Sunil Kawthankar said that the alliance was hammered out in Delhi by both the Party High Commands. The decision about the future of the alliance will be decided by the High Commands.
Political Commentator stated that the alliance won’t make a difference. The Congress itself is divided. Plus the AAP except for the two constituencies of Benaulim and Velim has not vote base. The AAP candidate were elected in Benaulim because it was a three cornered fight and Congress decided its candidate at the last minute. In Velim, the Congress put up a very weak candidate, Timble opined.
“Who knows in the next election the two AAP MLAs may even join the Congress, if offered a ticket,” Timble said adding he was not very optimistic about the alliance.
