IPL betting racket busted, 4 held

PANJIM: Crime Branch on Saturday late night busted an IPL betting racket in Panjim and arrested four accused who were caught red handed while accepting the gambling bets in a closed premises.

Crime Branch said that based on intelligence a raid was conducted under the close supervision of senior officers of crime branch.

Officer of CB informed that four accused including Franky Agnelo Fernandes (44) of St Lawrence, Sabir Badhasaheb Sayyed (25) of Ramnagar Betim, Firiz Ismail Khan (26) of Ramnagar Porvorim and Sanif Shiraj Sheikh (33) of St Inez were arrested in the offence.

All the accused were released on Sunday morning on bail bond.

CB informed the accused were accepting bribes during the match between Sunrisers Hyderbad and Delhi Daredevils.

Crime Branch has seized cash Rs 12,690, seven mobile phones and one laptop.

The accused have been booked under Sections 3 and 4 of GPC Act.
