Amidst a raging controversy over the alleged job scam with the opposition leaving no stone unturned to corner the government, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) State president Sadanand Shet Tanavade refrained from issuing a statement until he has a better understanding of the situation.

Speaking to the media on Monday, Tanavade said the issue is beyond the purview of the party.

“The issue does not fall under the purview of the party,

but in fact the government. I, however, didn’t get an opportunity to speak to Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant as he is in Varanasi for three days. Before making any comment, I will speak to all the concerned and understand the matter,” Tanavade said.

He added that BJP being a ruling party, it is inevitable that allegations will crop up. “It is politics,” he said further.

The BJP has been left red-faced after Panjim MLA Atanasio Monserrate accused PWD Minister Deepak Pauskar of running a job racket to the tune of Rs 70 crore. The minister denied the allegation, however, it has racked up controversy ahead of the Assembly polls.
