They were presented with their own paper, from the family of the Voice of Goa, Herald- Junior Herald. Launched today, this is a weekly newspaper for very young children, published each Monday and will be available to school children who subscribe to the paper, in their schools.
Completely interactive, packaged for children, with enough creative spaces for them to write, paint, colour and meet their heroes. Most importantly young readers will join a community of children who will enjoy their childhood, in the old fashioned way as they make Junior Herald a part of their growing up years.
Initial responses have been encouraging. For instance Lucy D’Costa from Infant Jesus primary section, Colva on receiving copies of Junior Herald early Monday morning said, “It’s a very interesting concept that Herald has come up with. This is the best way to instill the habit of reading in a child. The paper is very innovative and full of knowledge for children. I am sure the kids will love reading a paper, which is designed especially for them and called Junior Herald. It is a different paper and they are looking forward to learn something new from it.”
At the Damodar High School Margao, children had started solving the games, puzzles and the quiz as soon as they got a copy and were seen happily reading the 16 page all colour paper from cover to cover.
At the Don Bosco school in Panjim Father Avin Carvalho, receiving a bouquet of flowers from Herald said “This is a much needed initiative for children and only Herald could do this. Our school publishes good newsletters and we invite you to interact with the team which does this and work together so that their work can be published in Junior Herald.
Junior Herald teams spread across the state to reach schools in Salcete, Bardez, Tiswadi , Ponda. Mormugao and will soon reach over 250 schools across all talukas of the Goa.
While Herald introduces its youngest family member to children, teachers and parents, it assures them that this contemporary paper has been built on the bedrock of credibility and seriousness of Herald and takes the responsibility of inculcating the reading habit in our children in a wholesome enjoyable manner. Week after week.
