VASCO: Kesarval Spring is on the verge of extinction and needs immediate attention from the concerned authorities, say locals.

Heavy rainfall has caused landslides, uprooting of trees at the entry of the spring, recently.

A beautiful spring that is famous for its medicinal purpose and also a touristic attraction is now lying in shambles with no care taker. This gem has been left to die its natural death and the authorities need to immediately restore it before it disappears, says a local.

A recent visit to the site revealed that due to recent heavy rainfall throughout the State, the nearby huge boulders along with the jungle trees have collapsed near this spring blocking the access road to it.

Quelossim acting Sarpanch Sebastiao Serrao said there are plans to beautify this site without changing its natural structure. There are multiple departments involved such as Water Resource Department and Tourism Department that had plans to restore and beautify this place. The WRD is planning to come up with a small project of Baby pool costing around Rs 5 lakh and rejuvenation and upgradation of this spring surrounding area.

It may be recalled that two years ago a group of local people from Save Kesarval Spring group, who were environment lovers had taken green initiative to protect and keep the spring clean and garbage free.

The locals had urged the visitors not litter garbage, liquor bottles and plastic waste in the vicinity of the spring.
