PANJIM: The Kadamba Transport Corporation (KTC) is set to resume bus services to Karnataka’s Karwar and Gokarna region from Monday, as part of restarting inter-state bus services with opening up of the State borders post COVID-enforced lockdown.

At the same time, Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) will resume its service to Goa.

The inter-state bus transport service had come to halt since mid-March in view of COVID-19 pandemic. Since September 1, Central government has relaxed guidelines under Unlock 4, with opening State borders.  KTC general manager Sanjay Ghate said that as lockdown has been relaxed, KTC will restart operations to Karnataka from Monday.

“In the first, we will run buses on Karwar and Gokarna route. Based on the passenger flow, the full-fledged service will resume to Karnataka covering even Belagavi and Hubli, Bijapur, etc,” he said adding the maximum traffic flow before lockdown was to Belguam with 80 buses per day.  Ghate said that a total of 90 inter-state buses were operational before lockdown to Karnataka, Maharashtra and Hyderabad.  “The resumption of service to Maharashtra will be based on the situation,” he said.

Meanwhile, KSRTC will resume buses to Goa from Bengaluru, Mysuru and other places depending on the passenger density. KSRTC has made it mandatory for passengers to wear mask.
