Locals fiercely oppose another ‘Bhutani’ type project near Monte Hill, Old Goa
PANJIM: Locals from Old Goa, Cumbarjua and Divar have warned the government of a major agitation, for giving permission for a project to come up near Monte Hill Chapel, Old Goa. They said, this is an eco-sensitive area and just as government is taking action against Bhutani, it should stop this project.
The project on the hill slope is promoted by Enigma Properties, which is a non-Goan firm. They said the Cumbarjua MLA Rajesh Phaldesai has not said a word about it, although he is on the TCP Board. Government should bring a law to stop sale of Goan lands by Goans, they said.
Sarpanchas and panchas of the neighbouring villages, ex-sarpanchas and panchas and people of Cumbarjua, Divar and Old Goa gathered to oppose the project. They have threatened that they will gather in even bigger numbers if the project is not scrapped.
