The festival's original concept, known as "The Matiechem Fest," was presented to renowned Goencho festakar Marius Fernandes by the Pilerne Parish Priest Fr Derrick Xavier Fernandes.
The "Passoi", or village walk honoring the three main figures of that day—Saint John the Baptist, Saint Francis of Assisi, and Mahatma Gandhi—along with vibrant flag-bearers and a brass band providing accompaniment, will kick off the festivities at 10 a.m. To spread awareness of environmental issues and the need to preserve nature, a parade of floats will be led by dancers representing five different village groups.

Pilernkars  are all geared up to celebrate their beloved Matiechem Fest with great zeal and enthusiasm. The name "Amchi Mati, Amcho Awaz", which translates to "Our Soil, Our Voice", comes from the fest's core theme, which is an amalgamation of heritage, culture, and tradition subtly ingrained with an awareness of environmental sustainability.

Segments affectionately dubbed "Bolcaoacheo Gozalli" will feature insightful discussions about nature and its preservation with renowned social activist Swapnesh Sherlekar. Together with a captivating performance by Seby Fernandes, the original vocalist of the song "Mira-Mira," the event will also feature traditional performances such as the "Kolxi dance," a traditional dance form of Jharkhand, "Ghumtacho Nach," and other acts. The band "Derepent" will be playing music on the stage. A traditional Goan meal featuring Udke Xitt, Sambarachi Kodi, Dudhyachi Bhaji, Bhazlolo Bangdo, and Vhonn will be served during the event. Since the event is renowned for being environmentally friendly, attendees are expected to bring their own cutleries and crockery so they can savor the delicious Goan cuisine that will be served.
