Amble through the pot-holed road in Ambeshi

The residents of Pale in Bicholim taluka have to suffer due to pathetic road conditions. The villagers of Ambeshi Pale are among the worst lot and have been demanding a tarred road for decades now.

The road from Pale to Ambeshi is so bad that no vehicle can move because of the countless big potholes on it.

“We have done all that is required with the government and other authorities so that this road could be built but nothing has happened”, Radhika Gawde, who represents Ambeshi for the second time, told Herald.

Such has been the condition of the road that Radhika prefers to come walking to the panchayat every day rather than using a vehicle. “We are always requesting the MLAs to repair this road but all have turned a blind eye to this request. A School bus also plies from this road which is very dangerous.” Radhika added.

“On one side there is deep mine. When the school bus goes on this route, the parents are always worried about the safety of their wards,” Radhika said. “We are not concerned about the legal matters but on humanitarian grounds the government should take over the land and construct a road here,” she quipped.

There are about 100 houses in Ambeshi Pale and some people have not seen a tar road leading towards their village. “This road is a death trap for two-wheelers and now with the rains this road has been totally washed away. When it rains it becomes difficult for everyone to travel because of the big potholes,” Radhika explained.

Another panch, Mahesh Gawas had the same opinion about the road and feels that it is because of the legal matter that the road has been kept pending. The Pale sarpanch, Mohini Valvoikar, has also demanded the road be constructed on priority basis.

“We have explained this matter to our CM and also have been following the matter with the authorities. We demand that whatever be the legal matter, the government should intervene and construct this road for the benefit of the people,” Mohini said.
