ATKT to Std X students, but on condition
HERALD REPORTER
PANJIM, APRIL 26
Even though students of Std X failing in two subjects at the March 2010 Goa Board exam have been assured of ATKT for admission to Std XI they will have to score an aggregate of 40% marks in the remaining four subjects to qualify for the benefit.
A circular issued by the Goa Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education to this effect states it has decided to grant ATKT to such students of Std X who fail in two subjects and pass in remaining four with an aggregate of 40% marks.
It states these students who fail to get aggregate 40% in the four passing subjects will have to clear the two failed subjects by appearing at the SSC examinations held subsequently.
The students failing in two subjects at SSC who manage to take the ATKT benefit and take admission to Std XI will have to clear the subjects either in the supplementary examination or the March Board exam. In case if he/she fails to clear the subjects in both the exams his Std XI will be reserved till he/she clears the subjects.
The ATKT proposal was moved by Education Minister Babush Monserrate last year. Even though the Goa Board had approved it last year itself the same could not be implemented due to time factor.
