PONDA: Several electrical appliances were damaged following a high voltage at Ganganagar-Shiroda on Tuesday.
According to residents, the incident occurred at about 2.30 pm and TV, fridge and other appliances were damaged.
“I came home in the afternoon and while I was preparing food, there was a kind of blast sound. I was worried and by the time I could realise what had happened, there was smoke emanating from the TV set and the fridge,” informed Rekha Naik Shirodkar.
Rekha’s son Nitin said, “I approached the Electricity Dept office at Shiroda and was told that there was high voltage.”
Enquiries at Ponda Electricity Dept revealed that high voltage was witnessed after low tension wire snapped and fell on the neutral wire near the transformer. The problem was rectified.
Till Tuesday evening, four people had complained with the Electricity Department Shiroda.
According to villagers, majority of the residents were at work and as such it could not be ascertained how many houses were affected.
