PORVORIM: Almost 10 per cent of the entire Atal Sethu has been spent only on the electrical works; the House was informed on Tuesday.
As per the written reply given by Finance Minister Pramod Sawant to a question tabled by Porvorim MLA Rohan Khaunte, it was stated that the total cost incurred on the bridge as on Tuesday is Rs 546.8 cr.
As per the details provided, the sanction of Expenditure Finance Committee (EFC) was obtained for Rs.517 crores.
“The estimated cost of ‘civil works’ was Rs.355 cr, the estimated ‘electrical works’ was Rs.50 cr. Besides the consultancy etc the total rounds up to Rs.517 crores),” the reply says.
The Finance Minister further stated that the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, Government of India has sanctioned an amount of Rs.290.05 crore for the Atal Sethu project.
“Out of this, Rs 250.00 crores has already been received from MORTH (Ministry of Road Transport and Highways),” the reply said.
As per the details available, the bridge network along with Atal Sethu connection from Porvorim to Panjim, Panjim to Kadamba bypass junction and vice versa, flyover from Merces junction into Panjim city and the work is nearing completion.
“The project is likely to be completed by 29/02/2020 and the cost will be known after final bill is passed,” he said.
