PANJIM, NOV 24
Entertainment Society of Goa (ESG) is working on a list of cinematic places including private properties, which would be rented out for the film shootings.
ESG, Chief Executive Officer Manoj Srivastava said that the entertainment society has recently begun with the process of listing all those interested properties and convincing people to rent out their properties for film shooting.
“Several organisations and individuals have approached us, who are willing to rent their properties for shooting,” he stated.
Srivastava was responding to a question raised by member of KAS movie makers Kalyan Mukherjee. He pointed out that Goa is lacking in promoting private properties especially Churches with ancient architecture.
“All though a film destination, shooting in locations like Churches has always been getting difficult in absence of permissions. State has failed in opening up space of these beautiful cinema friendly locations,” Mukherjee said adding that there should be list of cinema friendly and cinematic properties.
“Next few months, we will be having exhaustive list,” ESG, CEO responded.
The debate was on, at the day long workshop on ‘India-The Big Picture’ jointly organised by Directorate of Film Festivals (DFF), Ministry of Information and Broadcasting and Confederation of Indian Industry (CII).
When asked, Srivastava said that the regional filmmakers usually prefer locations within their states and hence they don’t look at Goa.
Adding further he said that several Marathi films are been shot in Goa but state don’t have any Malayalam and Tamil films being shot here. “We need to push our financial schemes in film producing regions outside Goa and we will be doing it,” Srivastava said.
CEO said that during last few years, Goa has emerged as one of the prominent film destinations with almost 600 days of shooting recorded during last financial year.
Experts like Rajesh Sharma, director general, Service Export Promotion Council, Junaid Memon, Nomad Films, Satish Fenn, line producer (Guru, Raavan) and mohan Krishnan, communication head were also present during the workshop, which was highly debated.
