Goan is Chief Secretary of MP

Anthony de Sa, a son of Goa, has assumed charge as Chief Secretary of the State of Madhya Pradesh Wednesday. His is the son of Charles and Sarita Campos de Sa. Anthony, a native of Divar, was born in Bhusaval, Maharashtra where his father Charles de Sa, a freedom fighter in pre-Independence British days, was elected Mayor for three terms.

Anthony de Sa, a son of Goa, has assumed charge as Chief Secretary of the State of Madhya Pradesh Wednesday.
His is the son of Charles and Sarita Campos de Sa. Anthony, a native of Divar, was born in Bhusaval, Maharashtra where his father Charles de Sa, a freedom fighter in pre-Independence British days, was elected Mayor for three terms.
Anthony graduated from St Xavier’s College, Mumbai, where he was a gold medalist. He later moved to study at Harvard University for his Master’s degree, topping the University and being honoured with the Littauer Fellowship, one of Harvard’s highest awards.
During a long and illustrious career, De Sa served as Collector of Chhindwara, Bilaspur (now in Chhattisgarh), and Jabalpur. He has also been
Housing Commissioner of Madhya Pradesh. In the Central Government, he has served as Director in the Ministry of Environment & Forests, Controller of the Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (BARC) in Mumbai, and Joint Secretary in the Ministry of Commerce & Industry, where he was in charge of India’s WTO negotiations.
He was deputed to the United Nations for five years, and developed and implemented many projects in Africa and in the former Portuguese colony of Timor Leste (East Timor).
His wife Malusha, is a teacher, as is his daughter Divya, who is married to Vijay Rodrigues of Margao. His son Rohit is an engineer.
Known as ‘Tino’ to friends, Anthony is a poet and writer too.
