Govt spent Rs 1,979 crore on schemes from 2017-2019

PANJIM: The cash-strapped State government is spending Rs 627 crore on social security and other schemes in the State, the Assembly was told today.
Replying to a question tabled by Fatorda MLA Vijai Sardesai, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant said that the State has been implementing schemes like Dayanand Social Security Scheme, Ladli Laxmi, Griha Adhar, laptop scheme, Kamdhenu Scheme and assistance to mining dependents.
For three years from 2017 to 2019, the State government has spent Rs 1979.64 cr on the above schemes.
The yearly expenditure on the schemes is nearly Rs 650 cr.
As per government figures a total of 9,69,299 people have benefited from the schemes.
The Social security schemes are the major expenditure for the State as they nearly cost exchequer Rs 580 cr on an average.
The government has spent Rs 55.55 cr on schemes for mining dependents, including truck owners in last three years.
