CALANGUTE: The India Bike Week, organised by 70 Event Media Group and Fox Traveller, got underway at the picturesque venue at Vagator hill on Friday.
The highlight of the second India Bike Week was the bike parade roaring from Baga to Vagator, the largest ever parade of superbikes in India. Besides Harleys, there were a large number of superbikes like Honda, Suzuki, etc. However, the second edition of India Bike Week could be the last on Goan soil due to demands from bikers to move the festival to their respective cities and more adventure rides.
At the India Bike Week, there were a display of classic vintage bikes, modified bikes, contest and games, panel discussions, music concerts, food courts and other attractions like bike stunts, etc.
“It was heartening to know that the people are buying high-end leisure bikes like Harley Davidson’s which is rising at a rapid rate in India with double the number of Harley Davidsons as compared to last India Bike Festival,” said Anoop Prakash, Harley Davidson Chief in India.
Anoop disclosed that around 1,200 Harley Davidson bikes participated in the parade of bikes along the North Goa coastal belt on Friday at the start of the India Bike Week which was the third largest bike parade ever in Asia.
Martin D’Costa, the organizer of the India Bike week, said: “People across India want to organise India Bike Week in their respective cities and more importantly riders want to ride to different destinations in the country which may force us to move out of Goa in the future.”
The Indian Bike Week drew a large number of bike lovers from Goa and across the State, as tourists too thronged the venue in large numbers.
