PONDA: Industries at Madkaim Industrial Estate are reportedly facing losses due to irregular power supply since the last four days.

Sashi Panjikar, president of the Madkaim Industrial Estate Association and owner of a beverage company at Madkaim, claimed that his unit alone has suffered a loss of about Rs 10 lakh due to irregular power supply.

“About 55 industries in Madkaim Industrial Estate are going through severe problem due to irregular power supply,  said Panjikar.

“The problem erupted a few days back when the transformer broke down. Though the transformer was repaired, but it often encounters some or the other technical problem,” he said.

“We plan to meet Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar and request him to sort out the issue,” informed Panjikar.

When contacted, officials from the electricity department were unavailable for comments.
