The High Court Bombay at Goa, had ordered the Goa Government to install a direct water pipe line in Sonshi village, last year. However, till date nothing has happened. The villagers are still dependent on tanker water which is insufficient and more importantly not clean.
The villagers complained that they were suffering from the dust and the noise pollution but despite having complained to the concerned department no one was bothered.
“The Water Supply Department, Valpoi is supplying us tanker water in our village but not on a regular time. They have not installed a water pipe line till now. Two days ago the water supply department kept three small empty water tanks in our village, the reason we don't know” said Yamuna Gawade, a village old woman.
“The Government have not installed the water pipe line in our village, till date. We are waiting for water pipe line in our village. Now we depend on water tanker, which is not visiting regularly in our village and water tanker water is not clean” says Sandesh Gawade, a villager.
“We don't have water tap in our village or our homes. Earlier we were having tap at home and in the village. Water was not coming but we were still getting high water bills, so we all villagers cut the taps connections from home. Now no one has a tap at home in Sonshi village” said Pramod Gawade.
“We have given the work order of Sonshi village water pipe line and work is going on. Last month, that was on 27 February, we gave the work order for the pipe installation. The pipe line was tendered last year, in October month and it will cost almost RS. 90 lakhs and will take two months to complete.  The water barrels, which are being used by the Sonshi villagers are in bad condition, so we have given them three water tanks of ten litres and told them to use it till the pipe line is installed” said Eknath Paste, Assistant Engineer Water supply department Valpoi.
