Traffic on KR route hit

MARGAO: Rail traffic on the Konkan railway route was disrupted on Sunday following the derailment of the Mandovi Express at Khed on Sunday noon.

KRC Sr Public Relations Manager, Baban Ghatge informed that the movement of trains was disrupted due to the derailment. He, however, said that the trains were regulated by the KRC, even as he said that all trains headed to Mumbai had departed from the Margao Railway Station. “After the derailment, we have only regulated the movement of the trains. None of the trains were cancelled or diverted”, Ghatge said.

Replying to a question, he said the Margao-Mumbai Konkan Kanya Express had departed to Mumbai this evening as usual. “All these trains were halted at Ratnagiri before the route is cleared for traffic. Only there was some problem for trains coming to Margao from Mumbai”, he said, while exuding confidence that the KRC route would be cleared for traffic around 9 pm.
