PANJIM: In view of the prolonged ongoing academic term in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Academic Year 2021-22 has been delayed and will begin from June 21. The current term is being extended by eight days and will end on May 8.
Annually, the academic year for students of Classes I to IX and XI end by April 30 with the declaration of the results. However, this year, to ensure that there is no academic loss to students, Directorate of Education (DoE) has asked schools not to declare the results before May 7.
The summer vacation for the current year will begin from May 10 and go up to June 19, instead of from May 1 to June 3.
Education Director Santosh Amonkar issued a circular detailing out the terms and vacation breaks during the academic year 2021-22.
DoE has asked schools to ensure that the first summative or terminal examination ends by October 26 and the second summative exam is held preferably before April 6, 2022.
Schools have to ensure that the final examination results are not announced before April 29, next year.
Further, the heads of the schools have been directed to declare ten discretionary holidays, out of which three would be declared on September 13 to 15, adjoining the public holidays on account of Ganesh Chaturthi and remaining seven days are to be declared in consultation with Parents Teachers Association (PTAs).
The total number of working days, including examination days for the teachers, will be not less than 220 days, while the instructional days will not be below 200 in the academic year.
