PANJIM: From now on, citizens need not visit departments to file grievances, as the State government on Friday launched a single-window online portal where people can register their complaints anytime and are assured they will be addressed within 30 days.
The online portal of the Department of Public Grievances called the ‘Public Grievance Redressal System (PGRS)’ was launched by Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar, in the presence of Information Technology Minister Rohan Khaunte.
Citizens may lodge their grievance at www.goaonline.gov.in regarding any government department in the State. The grievance will be forwarded to the department online and addressed within 30 days.
If the department fails to address the issue within 30 days, the matter would be referred to the Chief Minister and the Concerned Principal Secretary for redressal within the next 15 days. The Chief Minister will monitor the complaints and pull up departments over the failure.
Parrikar said the government intends to provide citizens with a platform to redress their grievances. “Status updates of the grievance redressal will be intimated to the citizen via SMS and email and also will be available through the portal,” he said.
The Chief Minister said that integration with time bound service delivery will ensure timely redressal of grievances. “However, the complaint registered does not guarantee that they will be resolved to the complainant’s satisfaction,” he said adding that in case of a judicial matter, government will not be able to address the complaint.
Parrikar also said citizens can register complaints regarding central government departments and the same would be forwarded to them.
In all 58 departments have been trained and are on board. On an average, the Public Grievance Department receives 15-17 complaints monthly.
