A truck hit a chicken carrying tempo at Virnoda and the driver escaped with the vehicle. The driver of the tempo died on the spot

PERNEM: In a tragic incident, a truck rammed into a tempo which was carrying chicken. The impact was so severe that it led to the death of tempo driver on the spot and two others were injured. The accused truck driver fled the spot after the collision.

The Hit and Run case was reported at Virnoda-Pernem NH 66. However Pernem police later arrested the driver Mutappa Kolakar, aged 37 from Bijapur Karnataka under sections 281, 106(1) of BNS and Sec 134 (a) and (b) of the Motor Vehicle Act

The brother of the owner of the vehicle stated that the accident occured around 4 am on Monday. The truck disappeared from the scene after the accident.

The truck driver escaped from the scene after the accident. Our driver Niyaz Zari aged 38 died, while two other occupants were injured. I heard that the vehicle has been traced and the driver has been arrested. The damaged tempo which was supplying chicken, is from Vasco.
