MARGAO: Having got her party’s ticket barely a fortnight before the elections, the young firebrand Advocate Seoula Vas addressed what many felt was a surprisingly impressive and packed public meeting, at Murida on Wednesday
Vas lashed out at opposition MLAs saying they never bothered about the common man’s problems over their selfish interest.
While she touched upon her tendency to always help people and hit out at her detractors mentioned the video that has been circulating where she was told to ‘sit at home and not stand for election’ by a person she did not name.
She also mentioned how the youth in Fatorda are suffering due to unemployment, but the MLAs have failed to resolve this issue.
Earlier, Lok Sabha MP Mahua Moitra elaborated how the voters keep talking about wanting a change and the need for young and well-educated candidates and that Vas matches all these expectations. She also spoke about “breaking the coconut” in Fatorda.
Vas, stating that she has taken the baton from Rajya Sabha MP Luizinho Faleiro, said the people are fed up with the ‘oscillating MLAs’. “BJP stands on two feet in Fatorda, one foot is lotus and the other is coconut,” said Vas
Faleiro spoke about his contribution towards the development of Fatorda and getting many of its trademark public projects.
Called the ‘Daughter of Fatorda’ (which has also become a hashtag) in several videos and social media posts, Vas is certainly getting attention and according to some gaining ground, from a position where she was virtually written off.
Babit Fernandes said “Let’s get some new faces in the Assembly”. Meanwhile, Mariano Faleiro said “Hope that the new face of a young girl (will) be a political image of true words. Stella a vegetable vendor posted on Facebook “Seoula can be a protector of women and she has always stood with women.”
