PANJIM: The first meeting of the coordination committee comprising officials of the Transport Department, Kadamba Transport Corporation and private bus owners on Friday decided to improve efficiency of public transport in the State.
The committee also took stock of the timings of buses, illegal stops and overloading of buses with passengers.
“Both parties placed their issues before the committee in the first meeting which took place today. We had said that KTC buses run on routes without permits and in this case the Transport Director has asked KTC to produce their permits along with bus operating timings within the next three days,” All Goa Bus Owners Association president Sudip Tamankar said.
Transport Director Nikhil Desai said the aim of the coordination committee is to improve efficiency of public transport, review timing of bus transport, illegal stops and overloading of buses with passengers.
“We have asked for timing details from KTC and private bus owners as there have been allegations from private bus owners that KTC buses run at the same timings as them affecting their business. The coordination committee was constituted so that all issues could be amicably resolved,” Desai said.
