PANJIM: The feast of Immaculate Conception Church, Panjim was celebrated with traditional pomp and religious fervour on Friday. 

Fr Pio Salvador Almeida, parish priest of Our Lady of Rosary Church, Caranzalem was the main celebrant. Fr Walter D’Sa of Immaculate Conception Church, Panjim was also present.

On the feast day, masses were held at 5.30 am, 6 am, 7.30 am, 8.30 am, 10 am, 12.30 and 5 pm. A large number of devotees thronged to the Church to seek blessings of Our Lady. 

The Church, adorned in elaborate decorations, drew crowds from far and wide to partake in the masses conducted throughout the day, each a testament to the unwavering devotion to their patroness.

This annual celebration honours the belief in the Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary, a cherished moment marked by a transformative display of faith and celebration. The entire city square surrounding the church was a mesmerising sight, adorned with vibrant stalls and embellishments, heralding the commencement of the festive season.

The congregation of locals and devotees, gathering to pay homage to their patroness, created an awe-inspiring spectacle. The devout atmosphere, combined with the picturesque surroundings, encapsulated the essence of the celebration, inviting onlookers to witness a spectacle that truly embodies the spirit of faith and festivity.

The Feast of Our Lady of Immaculate Conception not only serves as a religious commemoration but also stands as a cultural and visual delight, transforming Panjim into a vibrant and spiritually charged centre of celebration worth experiencing.

A traditional brass band was also played at the occasion. 

A fair was put up near the Church and also along the promenade/footpath from ferryboat terminal point to Kala Academy, Campal. It will be allowed till December 14.
