Pink Police Force escorts stranded elderly woman home after KTC bus fails to arrive

PERNEM: In a heartening turn of events, the pink police force came to the rescue of an elderly woman who was left stranded at a bus stop after a Kadamba bus failed to arrive. The incident unfolded when bus from Panjim dropped her to Pernem but later she did not have a bus to drop her from Pernem to Colvale, since the Panjim Pernem return bus did not turn up. The plight of this stranded passenger caught the attention of journalists who then inquired with her and realized she had to reach to Colvale.

Against this backdrop, the government had announced a protocol: if no passenger bus is available at any bus station after 8 pm, the Pink Force Police in the vicinity will ensure the safe transportation of women to their homes. Journalists promptly activated this protocol, contacting the local Pernem police station.

Responding swiftly, a team from the Pink Police arrived at the Pernem Kadamba bus stand with a vehicle. Upon learning of the woman's intended destination, they set off for Colvale via Pernem, ensuring her journey home was secure. The prompt action of the police team garnered deserved commendation.

The Kadamba Corporation's older buses, which serve various villages in Pernem taluka, have recently experienced sporadic disruptions in service, impacting the transportation needs of numerous passengers. The reasons behind these interruptions remain unclear. When questioned about the bus's absence, employees at the Pernem Kadamba bus stand expressed ignorance about the situation, emphasizing that when a bus is canceled, the corporation should arrange for an alternative passenger bus to cater to those at the location.

Pernem's KTC bus stand not fully operational

PERNEM: Despite being inaugurated twice amid the presence of both Central and State ministers, the Pernem’s KTC bus stand continues to grapple with operational challenges, shedding light on the influence of political maneuvering in its progress. Even after a considerable amount of time has passed, the bus stand remains far from achieving full operational status. Notably, the facility falls into darkness after 8pm, and numerous gates remain locked, creating a sense of restricted accessibility.

Within the premises, various government offices, including the traffic police and town and country planning departments, find their home. Regrettably, the conditions in front of these offices raise concerns about hygiene standards. The ground floor area has stray dogs and pigeon excrement, raising a pervasive stench. Although sanitation workers make efforts to clean the area, the results have been less than satisfactory.

Further compounding the issue, the washrooms and toilets within the traffic police department exhibit poor levels of hygiene. Additionally, evidence of neglect is manifest in the form of leakages within the building structure, and the overgrown grass behind the facility serves as a testament to the lack of proper maintenance.
