
PANJIM: Siddiqui alias Suleiman Khan did not escape from Crime Branch custody, but was escorted by two police vehicles. One team went ahead and was waiting in Hubli. Constable Amit Naik was forced to escort Suleiman to Hubli due to forgery of his surname to get the job. Another police jeep followed the accused. In Hubli, a threat was given to stage an encounter with Suleiman if he did not cooperate, AAP Goa has alleged. Meanwhile the DGP has claimed that Suleiman’s video is a diversionary tactic.
An influential person visited the Crime Branch to transfer property on his name and Suleiman was beaten in his presence. Hence CCTV footage of previous three days has to be made public, Adv Amit Palekar, Convenor AAP Goa has declared. He stated that there is an entire untold story behind the case involving big enmities of Goa. He further alleged that the lives of the accomplice Amit Naik and accused Suleman Khan are in danger. Palekar demanded an inquiry to be held in this case. Close to 72 hours after aiding land grab accused Siddiqui alias Suleman Khan to break free from the Crime Branch lockup, suspect Amit Naik, an Indian Reserve Battalion (IRBn) police constable, who has been dismissed from police service, allegedly tried to commit suicide by consuming phenyl on Sunday.
The Congress has demanded that the Governor cannot be a mute spectator and should summon the Chief Minister with regard to the allegations levelled by Fugitive Suleiman Khan and all involved should be suspended. After the embarrassing video released by Siddiqui alias Suleiman Khan making allegations against the SP Crime Branch and Deputy Speaker Joshua D’Souza, Director General of Police, Alok Kumar said “Once re-arrested we will look into the allegations made in viral video by Suleiman. It seems allegations have been made to deflect the attention of Goa police from efforts to track him. Our immediate focus is to re-arrest him and multiple teams are working to trace him. Can’t comment on the MLA’s named in viral video. Suleiman had said that he had been escorted by two police teams and did not escape.
