BICHOLIM: With pre monsoon works in Bicholim yet to be completed in the town, officials have already started pointing fingers at each other. At a meeting held to review the situation, an officer said he was unaware about the status of work.
Annoyed by the attitude of the officer, local MLA Dr Chandrakant Shetye reprimanded the officials and warned them that the public should not face any inconvenience during the monsoon. Presently, laying of underground cables in Bicholim and surrounding areas is going on war footing and several roads have been dug and pose a threat to motorists and pedestrians alike.
It was decided to complete these works at the earliest. The officials were asked to complete the pending works within a week. The next review meeting will be held on Wednesday.
Deputy Collector Rohan Kaskar, Mamlatdar Rajaram Parab, Chief Officer Sachin Dessai, Chairperson Kundan Falari, BDO Shrikant Pednekar, and other officials, councillors and panch members were present for the meeting. Issues such as cutting of branches, cleaning the drains, waste management, uninterrupted power supply, power cables, removing poles in dangerous positions, working of emergency services etc were discussed during the meeting.
