
PANJIM: President of India, Droupadi Murmu left Goa for New Delhi on Thursday afternoon after concluding her three-day visit to the State.
The President was accorded warm farewell by Governor P S Sreedharan Pillai and Chief Minister Pramod Sawant at the INS Hansa, Dabolim.
Union Minister of State Shripad Naik; Protocol Minister Mauvin Godinho; Speaker Ramesh Tawadkar; Chief Secretary Puneet Kumar Goel, Director General of Police (DGP) Jaspal Singh, Secretary, (Protocol) Sanjit Rodrigues were present on the occasion.
Earlier, the President visited the heritage church of Basilica of Bom Jesus at Old Goa and later paid respect at Shree Shantadurga Temple, Kavlem and Shree Mahalsa Narayani Temple, Verna and paid her obeisance.
The Governor, the Chief Minister, Power Minister Ramakrishna ‘Sudin’ Dhavalikar and Social Welfare Minister Subhash Phal Desai escorted the President during her visit to the church and temples.
On her way to Kavlem temple, she stopped at Farmagudi and also visited GVM’s College campus for few minutes. The large number of students appeared excited to see the First Citizen of India in their college campus. The President interacted with the students during her brief stay.
During her maiden visit to the State, the President addressed the 34th annual convocation of Goa University and also addressed the Members of State Legislative Assembly at Porvorim. She was also accorded the civic reception by the State government.
