PONDA: The residents of a housing society near the Almeida High School in Ponda were unhappy when they received a water bill of Rs 63,928 after a gap of nine months.
Vishal Fadte, a social worker who resides here said that there are around 16 flats in the housing complex and if the PWD issues bills after a long delay, it would be difficult for them to make payments.
Fadte says that the PWD should issue monthly bills so that people can make their payment on time.
“If the people receive huge bills suddenly, then they would be unable to pay and
and hence the PWD should issue monthly bills to the consumers as many can’t afford to cough up such huge amounts,” said Fadte.
This time we have to share Rs 4,000 each in order to clear the water bill which otherwise was around Rs 250 to Rs 300 per month,” said Fadte.
