PANJIM: Rains lashed many parts of the state, due to unusually hot climate. Many people were caught unawares in the rain. Many talukas including Valpoi was affected, with damage to houses, trees getting uprooted and electricity poles falling. Rain also lashed parts of Sanguem, Pernem and Tiswadi.

Rains caused lot of damage in Valpoi. There were reports of trees falling across the road, bringing down electricity polices and some trees falling on vehicles

Raghu Karmalkar (52), a paralysed person had a miraculous escape when a tree fell on his mud house at Curpem Sanguem, due to heavy winds. He was living alone in the house. Fortunately, he escaped without injury and is reported to be safe. His neighbours took him out from the house to a safer place.

Heavy rains and strong winds also lashed Pernem. Due to the heavy rains there was water logging and water entered the fish market in Pernem.

Parts of Tiswadi also witnessed rainfall, more specifically in Batim, where people were attending d church services at the Batim Chapel.
