MARGAO: Using RTI documents as basis for their criticism of the Town and Country Planning Department (TCP), the South Goa Congress demanded that an investigation be carried out as the records of the Regional Plan (2011) are missing from the TCP’s headquarters.

While addressing media persons in Margao on Friday, Goa Congress leader Elvis Gomes and others referred to a recent case where one citizen had challenged the Outline Development Plan (ODP) that had been prepared by the North Goa Planning and Development Authority (NGPDA) in the High Court (HC).

Gomes pointed out that while NGPDA have not complied with the HC directions, the aggrieved party asked for various documents under RTI from the TCP.

In that, the TCP replied that the records of the RP 2011 are not available at its office.

Calling this a major scam and an attempt to cover up land frauds, Gomes demanded that this matter be brought to its logical conclusion as such an important document cannot go missing.

Gomes and the South Goa Congress team also spoke on the ongoing violence in Manipur and condemned the horrific incident where two women were paraded naked on May 4 in the Kangkopi district of Manipur. They also criticised the BJP government in Manipur and at the Centre for failing to control the situation warned that in the future the communal harmony in Goa could be disturbed too.
