Last month, mangalsutras were snatched from two senior women in broad daylight in Davorlim and Aquem-Margao.

In the first incident, two unknown individuals engaged a 63-year-old woman in conversation outside her Davorlim residence, while one snatched her mangalsutra worth Rs 1.90 lakh. Both persons fled. The Maina-Curtorim Police registered an offence against the unidentified persons, but no arrests have been made yet.

In the second incident, a motorcycle rider snatched a woman’s mangalsutra and other gold ornaments worth Rs one lakh while she was walking along the road in Aquem-Margao.

Speaking on the condition of anonymity, a senior police officer said that the police are exploring potential connections between these cases due to similarities in the modus operandi. The police have interrogated several suspects, and investigations are on.
