MARGAO: The Davorlim gram sabha discussed the strategies suggested by the panchayat’s Village Development Committee and waste management committee in how to tackle waste here.
Firstly, it was decided to conduct a thorough survey of all houses in the village, which would help the panchayat verify the number of legal houses in the village for the execution of the door-to-door garbage collection service.
The survey would also help the panchayat identify illegal houses and action would be taken against such premises accordingly. The survey would also identify the source of certain type of waste like that generated from chicken vendor stalls etc.
A presentation was also made by experts on the importance of segregation of waste and why the panchayat needs to charge a fee per house.
