Shocked & numb, here to hold Peter’s hand: Gautam

PANJIM: Gautam Mukherjea, Owner-Editor of the magazine Planet Goa, and the brother of Peter Mukherjea, ex-CEO of Star and the ‘founder’ of the NewsX channel, took the first flight out of Goa around 7 am on Wednesday, when he heard of Peter’s wife and his sister-in-law Indrani Mukerjea’s arrest for allegedly murdering Sheena Bora. 

Bora was earlier known to the Bombay society as Indrani’s sister, till it dawned that she was actually her daughter.

Speaking to Herald over the phone Gautam Mukherjea, based in Goa from where he runs his acclaimed food, lifestyle and entertainment magazine said, “I am shocked and numb. I just took the first flight out and I’m with Peter to hold his hand. The poor fellow is completely dazed and so am I.”

About the relationship between Indrani and Sheena, Gautam Mukherjea said, “We always knew and were introduced to Sheena as her sister and in 2012 we were told that she has gone abroad.”

Denying television reports that he too has been summoned for questioning by the Mumbai Police and there are allegations that some funds from the NewsX channel were transferred to his account he said, “I have not been summoned but will do whatever I’m asked to.  No funds were transferred to my account barring my salary because I had a professional association.”

While Gautam and his wife and family are settled in Goa, Peter and Indrani also own an apartment in a complex in Betim were they live when they are in Goa. It is unlikely that those holidays will happen anytime soon.
