PANJIM: South Goa Superintendent of Police (SP) Sunita Sawant has been transferred to
the Goa Police Headquarters, with Tikam Singh Verma assuming charge as the new South
Goa SP.
Sawant was appointed as the South Goa SP in February last year. Sources suggest her transfer may be linked to allegations of non-cooperation with certain MLAs from South Goa.
Sawant had taken on additional responsibilities as South Goa SP after IPS officer Abhishek Dhania was transferred
to Delhi earlier. Her tenure
witnessed significant
developments; however, her transfer has raised questions in political and administrative
circles.
Tikam Singh Verma, who previously headed the Anti-Narcotics Cell, will now serve as the SP of South Goa. The transfer underscores the dynamic changes within the state’s police
administration.
