PANJIM: The Goa government on Saturday issued an order extending the closure of establishments, which have been shut since mid-March. The order came hours after Central Government, late Friday night, allowed all shops except those located in market complexes and malls in urban areas, to begin operations with 50 per cent staff.
“All the gymnasiums/cinema theatres/public swimming pools both standalone and in hotels/resorts, etc, casinos, spa and massage parlours/salons, river cruises, night clubs and multiplexes to shut down their operations.
The order will continue to remain in force until further orders,” the order by Director of Health Services Dr Jose D’Sa states.
In a late night development on Friday, the Ministry of Home Affairs issued relaxation allowing opening of neighbourhood and standalone shops, including those located in residential complexes. The ministry, however, said the new relaxations will not apply to hotspots or containment zones in the country.
“All shops registered under the Shops and Establishment Act of the respective Sate/UT, including shops in residential complexes and market complexes, except shops in multi-brand and single brand malls, outside the limits of municipal corporations and municipalities, with 50 percent strength of workers with wearing masks and social distancing being mandatory,” the MHA order said. The order also applied to neighbourhood shops and standalone shops within urban areas subject to conditions.
