PANJIM: Hill Top Night Club owner John Stephen D'Souza (Steve) who is placed under arrest by Hyderabad Police for his alleged involvement in the Hyderabad narcotics case was brought to Hyderabad from Goa early Friday morning. This was confirmed to Herald by Hyderabad Commissioner of Police C V Anand.
Meanwhile, the Goa police will move an application to cancel the bail of Edwin Nunes owner of Curlies restaurant in Sonali Phogat murder case. Nunes is wanted in NDPS case by Hyderabad police.
Steve is currently being interrogated by crime Hyderabad Narcotic Enforcement Wing (H-NEW) narco team of the Hyderabad police. He will be later handed over to Osmania University Police Station. His formal arrested will be shown on Saturday. Steve will be produced before the local court in Hyderabad for police remand on Saturday.
Hyderabad court today rejected the anticipatory bail plea of Edwin Nunes and has already rejected the regular bail plea of Pritesh Borkar earlier on Thursday. The statements of Pritesh Borkar naming several persons from Goa as kingpins of the drug supply cartels has given sleepless nights to the persons prominently named in the case. Edwin is in the dock as Pritesh reportedly has named him as one of the big suppliers of drugs in the case.
The public prosecutor while arguing the matter has cited the statement of Pritesh Borkar naming Edwin, which went against him and his anticipatory bail plea was rejected.
Pritesh Borkar has named at least eight persons in his interrogation, which has provided grounds to reject the bail of Edwin. Edwin had however denied knowing Pritesh and prayed for anticipatory bail. However, Edwin is also named in the Sonali Phogat case, which is also an NDPS case.
Meanwhile, Sanjay Govekar, Tukaram Salgaonkar, and Vishwas Naik have now moved anticipatory bail fearing arrests in the Hyderabad police investigation. The Hyderabad Nampally Court will hear the arguments soon.
Except for Pritesh Borkar who is in the custody of Hyderabad police the rest of the accused named in the drugs case out of fear of being arrested have moved bails which will be heard soon.
Having said that, the Hyderabad police has been able to tighten the noose around the alleged kingpins of drugs in Goa.
