PANJIM: Due to lack of jobs and job scams in Goa, Goans are looking for overseas jobs. However, they are getting entangled in job rackets. The Chief Minister himself admitted that Goans are losing Rs 100 crore a year due to job scams. Herald Media asked people Do you think govt is ready to educate people and crack down on overseas job rackets?

I think we cannot put everything on the government. I think that the people know that what they are doing is not proper, is not as per law, it is illegal and yet they do it.

I think we cannot put everything on the government. I think that the people know that what they are doing is not proper, is not as per law, it is illegal and yet they do it. And this what they do is not for the interest of society or for the State. They do it for their own selfish interest. Do you have to educate people not to play matka? So they all know it. Families are getting ruined with this. But why is matka flourishing, because it is getting tremendous support of the people. About overseas job racket, how can you stop someone from giving somebody money to get a job illegally? All this arises after the problem arises and they don’t get a job. The giver is equally guilty.

The government has to take appropriate steps. In the overseas scam that we have seen, the agents are cheating the people, who want to look for jobs abroad.

The government has to take appropriate steps. In the overseas scam that we have seen, the agents are cheating the people, who want to look for jobs abroad. They give fake offers and take money. But we have to see the other side also. Those who go abroad, especially on ships, they try to get on land illegally since the salaries are better and the facilities are better. No body forces them, it is their own decision. There are many cases of this type. Where they have been detained, they have themselves landed there. There is no fault of the government, or the agent. However, there should be crackdown on illegal agents.

People know, but they do not keep away (from such agents). Only after they get cheated, they learn their lessons.

People know, but they do not keep away (from such agents). Only after they get cheated, they learn their lessons. Then they come to us and ask us to take up these issues. People have to take responsibility for their actions and go ahead. We are behind them. We always back them. But people who have been cheated should come forward.
